Our Cars
The Rover P4 was described by a journalist of the time,
as like having tea at your Aunties. The nickname stuck through the years
and is stilled used in classic car circles today "AUNTIE"
was produced in December 1957 and sold in Dundee to a local bank manager
who kept her for the next thirty years. When he died in 1988 the car
went to a niece who never drove her. She was then sold to a schoolteacher
in Rosalin near Edinburgh. She was used daily to do the school run and
only sold to acquire a bigger P4, 80, to pull a caravan. The present
owner is a retired police officer who acquired her on June 11th 2003,
has had her totally restored and resprayed. Auntie is again used every
day and once traveled three thousand miles in a month going to various
car shows though not always entered. The interior is totally original
and unmolested. The only concession to the times is the fitting of radials
and seat belts. There are no rear seatbelts as these were never fitted.
Cars of this age are exempt.
